Hello!! Hard to believe that Christmas is here! But, I hope & pray that each of you are enjoying a wonderful holiday season with family & friends! I know that many of you are busy with shopping, wrapping, cooking & more! This year, we are doing something a little “untraditional” for Christmas dinner — we are going to our favorite Chinese restaurant in DC — the Peking Gourmet Inn! Its our family favorite & this allows me to spend time with the grandsons instead of in the kitchen!

With the launch of the new Designer Edition Plus software, many of you have written me about how to install & the fact that you have lost your original Designer Edition codes! This is also a problem when your computer crashes & software has to be re-installed; or if you get a new computer for Christmas! So, today’s post is to show you where they are & how to re-install!

When you open your Silhouette Studio software, the version of software you are running will be displayed at the top of your workspace screen. You can see here that I am running the free version of Studio that can be downloaded from the Silhouette America website. (If you are installing Designer Edition Plus — you MUST be running the most current version – which is 3.6.057 at this writing. I highly recommend that everyone run this version.)

Silhouette License Code

To locate your previously purchased & installed codes, open the Silhouette Store window. (You must have previously installed these codes — Silhouette America does not have a record of purchases that have NOT been installed). Be sure you are logged into your account, and use the Drop down menu to select “My Account”.

Once you click on “My Account”, scroll down to the very bottom of this page & you will see all of your previously purchased & installed codes. (The codes are 16 digits, I’ve just blocked out part of mine for security purposes.) You will notice that I have 3 codes here — as I’ve purchased Designer Edition, (twice) and Business Edition for multiple computers.

In the top Menu bar, select Help (on a Mac) and Silhouette Studio (on a PC) and using the drop down menu, click on Upgrade Silhouette Studio.

Insert the information requested & the 16 digit code here. Once everything is entered, the Submit button will be activated — click Submit.

Now, you will see the version of software that you are running!

So, that’s it! Never worry that you will lose your codes! They will alway be saved in your Account settings!
